Aletheia Teste

Nasceu em Torre de Tavares, em Portugal, em 1628. Emigrou para a Holanda, e daí seguiu para Java, achando-se aí em 1641. Converteuse na Igreja Reformada Holandesa em 1642 por meio de um folheto que tratava sobre a "Diferença da Cristandade entre a Igreja Reformada e a Igreja Romana". Casou-se em 1651 com a filha de um pastor. Foi ordenado ao santo ministério em 16 de outubro de 1656. Aprendeu grego e hebraico e começou a traduzir o Novo Testamento, tendo como base o "Textus Receptus" dos irmãos Elzevirs, segunda edição de 1633. Faleceu em 6 de agosto de 1691. A Igreja Católica, através do tribunal da Inquisição, queimou-o em estátua, em Gôa, antiga possessão portuguesa na índia. A Igreja Romana, nem mesmo agora, no chamado Ecumenismo, se desculpou de tais coisas...
